Lost Velvet is an alternative rock duo based in Reading, UK, blending cinematic post-rock with dark shoegaze textures to craft haunting ‘90s-tinged dreamscapes. The project is led by multi-instrumentalist and producer Robert Butcher and vocalist Melissa Morris, whose dual vocal interplay and introspective songwriting create an immersive sound that feels both intimate and intense.
The band draws influence from a wide spectrum of artists across alternative, rock, and grunge scenes — including Radiohead, Deftones, Alice in Chains, Mogwai, Massive Attack, Smashing Pumpkins, Portishead, Elliot Smith, Blonde Redhead, Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Nine Inch Nails, and A Perfect Circle, among others. Their music pairs moody atmospheres with punchy hooks, creating nostalgic tracks that feel pulled from a forgotten film reel.
