“Happening and in high demand, catch them before you can’t.” – So Young
The alt-rock five piece House of Women consisting of Poppy Miller, Elsa Malazogu, Fay Thorburn, Kyla Lanai and Bella Matthews have been turning heads and dropping jaws since emerging on the London gig circuit.
Grunge, stoner rock and dark folk influenced, House of Women have already honed in on their signature style, their love for the alternative scene of the ‘90s given a fresh burst of youthful exuberance by the band, all aged 18-21.
Their full-intensity live shows first ignited their reputation with incendiary performances at All Points East and 2000trees, a headline gig at Notting Hill Arts Club and breaking the record for the most ever sign-ups for a Shacklewell Arms show, before their acclaim grew – not only from champions of heavier music (Alyxx Holcombe and Nels Hylton at Radio 1 as well as Kerrang!) but their broad, crossover sound also attracted attention from So Young and Get In Her Ears.
