NOSTROMO

Nostromo is a new five-piece fusion group blending the spirit of psychedelic jazz pioneers like Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders with the intensity of jazz-rock classics such as Mahavishnu Orchestra. Infused with a rich array of world music influences, spanning Brazil to India, the sound channels artists from Chick Corea to Zakir Hussain.

Led by singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist Livan Garcia-Duquesne, Nostromo’s repertoire ranges from sprawling, intricate epics with complex structures and extensive solos to delicate, baroque-infused pieces where Bach-like harmonies intertwine with John McLaughlin picking motions. The music often shifts from pensive and delicate to fiery and apocalyptic, carrying a menacing spiritual gravity. The lineup features tabla, piano, acoustic guitar, bass and drums.
